Reading, Video and Other Stuff…

So I haven’t finished the Craig Groeschel book… I promise I will finish it. It’s too good not to.

I kinda got preoccupied doing other stuff, but I will get to that in a bit…

I recently received a new version of the Bible. My wonderful girlfriend, Katrina, bought me an, ESV, Bible for Valentines Day.

I hate Valentines Day… She hates Valentines Day… we are both in agreement that it is one of the stupidest “holidays” in existence… it ranks right up there with “Columbus Day”… but that’s a topic for another time.

I got the Bible because I requested it… I actually had to go pick it out with her. Here’s the reason why I wanted it. I have already been accused of getting one because Perry is now reading through the same version… that is NOT the reason why. I wanted the ESV because Mark Driscols church, Mars Hill, has recently switched from the, NIV, to the, ESV. I am a subscriber to Mars Hill’s podcast and found it kind of hard to keep up with Mark, while I was still reading from the NIV. I will admit, I did steal one idea from Pastor P… I plan to read through the Bible using this version… FRONT to BACK…

I was currently reading the book of Mark when I received the Bible, so I waited until I finished Mark to start my journey from front to back… I read about two chapters a day, if not more… it depends on, honestly, if I feel like reading that day.

There’s not a vast difference between the NIV and ESV so far… obviously the wording is changed, but it’s not harder to read. I can’t stand reading the KJV. I’ve heard it all… “KJV or burn”… “it’s the closest to the literal translation”… “all the other translations are directly from hell”… blah blah blah… I used the KJV Bible for roughly 14 years while attending Oakwood Christian School… I memorized Bible verse after Bible verse… some of which I can quote today… but for the most part, I didn’t understand what I was reading. The language that is used is DEAD. No one talks like that anymore… well let me take that back… only television con-artist, oops, I meant to say evangelist and “turn or burn” pastors use that language in every day speech. I personally like, “The Message”, Bible. It is very easy to understand and follow. Would you rather me read a “watered” down version or nothing at all… because before I started attending NewSpring, I read NOTHING at all, because I only knew the KJV.

Ok so I have been preoccupied in my free time with making my own videos… yes, most of them are stupid… but I am having fun. I have actually inspired some of my closest friends to start doing it as well.

I have made 4 videos:

3. Communion
4. Ear Wax Candles

The 3rd one was removed at my own discretion… if you saw it, consider yourself lucky, because it was probably my best one.

Hopefully making video’s will get me through til football season starts on Labor Day!
