Out of the loop

The first time I heard about Ted Haggard was yesterday during church, when Perry said, “Instead of throwing rocks at the guy and cursing his name, pray for him and his family, because the dude needs it…” I had no idea what he was talking about. I leaned over and asked the highschool campus coordinator who Ted Haggard was and he gave me a brief run down. It’s pretty bad when you are that far out of the loop. This happened on Wednesday. I realized it on Sunday. It goes to show, that I am out of the loop. It made me realize that I probably should subscribe to the paper and/or watch CNN more frequently.

Here’s my “take” (yeah I stole that from Jim Rome) on Ted- You didn’t see that coming? Let me explain what I mean by that. Last night at sat in my living room and watched CNN, MSNBC, C-SPAN… and countless other news channels that had something about Ted Haggard on it. My very first impression of this guy was, “wow, they didn’t see that coming?!”. Yeah, someone is going to hang me for saying this, but I speak exactly what is on my mind, so here goes… if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, LOOKS like a duck, what is it? A cow? NO, it’s a duck. –> that’s as far as I am going, I could really rip into that, but I will just scrape the surface, instead of jabbing into the skin. Yeah, I judged a book by its cover… and you do too, and if you say you don’t, well good for you, because you have other problems, like, LYING.

The dude was on FIRE for Jesus. What happened? How do you go from telling THOUSANDS of people about Jesus, to meeting gay male prostitutes for meth and sex? This goes to show that EVERYONE is capable of being sucked in by Satan. I am certain that in the near future there will be a tell all by Ted. 60 minutes / Larry King or someone else will get an exclusive interview to get the inside scoop. And that my friend will be very interesting to watch. Ted’s life just got DESTROYED. I mean, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, look better than what he is going through. He lost his job(s), respect, reputation, friends and possibly even family… however there is one person that won’t leave him… and that’s Jesus. Jesus said in John 15:4 – “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

There’s no doubt in my mind that Ted Haggard is a man of God. He just has some very disturbing problems, that have cost him everything. All of this probably happened because Ted got away from God. If your hanging around Godly people, chances are, you are going to do Godly things. I am willing to bet that if he was hanging out with Godly people, he wouldn’t have been out looking for butt sex and meth. It may just be a hunch, but I am positive that he wouldn’t find himself in a cheap motel room with a gay male prostitute if he was hanging out with his associate pastor and his family. And, YES, I said, butt sex. It wasn’t a typo.

I am not casting stones at Ted. The dude needs some help. I personally can’t help him, but I can pray for him, and that’s exactly what I am going to do and I suggest that you do the same. I am going to pray that he gets his life back on track – Jimmy Swagart did, and so can Ted. I am going to pray for his marriage. His wife is probably going through a very tough time. I am going to pray for his (former) church. The people are with out their leader. The guy that brought them to where they are. Who is going to fill his shoes? Perry says all the time that NewSpring can run just fine without him. Yeah, it would operate, but it couldn’t operate at the same level. It takes a special man to lead a church that size.

That’s all I really have to say about that right now- hopefully I will be able to access wordpress quite frequently now.
