Tonight I had the pleasure of watching one of the funniest movies… of the summer. It wasn’t the best movie, however it was pretty dawg gone good.
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
I won’t ruin the movie for anyone… well no more than the trailers ruin it… There are plenty of funny moments that will make you almost pee your pants.
The opening quote sets the mood for the movie… I won’t ruin it for you, but one day I will have it plastered somewhere on this web page.
I grad movies on a scale of 1 to 10…
Here’s a quick example of how the scale works.
Movies such as: The Davinci Code, The Omen, Teen Wolf 2, American Pie: Band Camp and Syriana, receive and overall total of 1. Which means: AVOID AT ALL COST, almost like you would avoid a hooker in downtown Los Angeles after 2am.
A 2-4 ranking: Almost as bad as a getting an overall ranking of 1. Movies such as: The Lord of the Rings (1,2, and 3), The new Star Wars, Beetlejuice, Batman Forever. More or less, movies that have sequels, really crappy plots or horrible acting. Keanu Reeves movies never make it past this level… not one.
5 ranking. Middle of the road. These movies are watchable, but usually not more than once, mostly due to length… or unless you are completely bored. Movies such as: Black Hawk Down, The Notebook, Titanic, Interview with the Vampire, ect… Movies that are good, but way too long.
Ranking 6-8. Adequate viewing time, decent plot, good number of laughs, good acting, numerous famous actors (actresses). Movies such as: Collateral, Kill Bill, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, and most recently, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Ranking 9. Almost movie Nirvana, but not quite. Missing something… One you can almost say: “That’s the best movie I have ever seen”. Movies such as: Cinderella Man, American History X, Natural Born Killers, Full Metal Jacket. Must see movies, that will stand the test of time.
Ranking 10. Hardly ever seen. Most people say things like Casablanca… I say poop on Casablanca. You might have liked it, and you might be saying, “If you don’t have Casablanca and the Godfather ranked 10, then this ranking system sucks”… well if that’s you, then make up your own ranking system and put them on top… because they are not getting it on here. Black and White movies were made for Black and White T.V., not for 54inch plasma. Ranking 10 means, MOVIE NIRVANA. EXCELLENT. Can be watched over and over again. Completely original, or if not original done so well that it out did the original. These are movies that you would rather pee your pants than get up and miss a part of it… These are few and far between. Pulp Fiction (my all time favorite movie), Silence of the Lambs, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Forrest Gump and this is a HUGE REACH, and if you don’t like it, remember this is my ranks, not yours… Napoleon Dynamite.
Ricky Bobby movie gets an 8. Great comedy, good acting and race cars… you can’t go wrong.
